Project Description
Ground source heat pumps (GSHPs) are a mature technology that can contribute to overall economic prosperity, energy security, and environmental stability in the United States. Our paper, "Closer to Zero: Unlocking Ground Source Heat Pump Technology Potential for U.S. Homes and Businesses" explores the benefits of this technology as well as barriers to market growth. We conducted primary, qualitative interviews with both experts and end-users of ground source heat pumps, as well as an in-depth literature review. In this report, we do not attempt to address every aspect of this technology, but rather provide a state of the field for policymakers to use as a factor in discussing energy policy.
